The effectiveness of a neurological rehabilitation program focusing on the sensory integration and neurotherapy approach and examining its effectiveness on the neuropsychological profile of children with neurodevelopmental disorders (case study of au
This study aims to develop an integrated neuro-rehabilitation program based on sensory integration and neurotherapy (tDCS) and to investigate its effectiveness on the neuropsychological profile of children with neurodevelopmental disorders (autism spectrum disorder and ADHD). The research adopts a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest and control group, including a three-month follow-up. The statistical population consists of 7-to-12-year-old children diagnosed with ASD and ADHD in Tehran during 2025. A purposive sample of 60 participants will be assigned to four groups (intervention and control for each disorder). The intervention comprises 12 sessions of sensory-motor integration exercises (bottom-up approach) combined with transcranial direct current stimulation over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (top-down approach). Assessment tools include the Dunn Sensory Profile, Conners Continuous Performance Test, Tower of London test, and a neuropsychological function questionnaire. Data will be analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance and Bonferroni post-hoc tests. The findings are expected to stabilize rehabilitation outcomes and improve the neuropsychological profile of affected children, while providing a foundation for future interventions in neurodevelopmental disorders.
