The present study aims to examine the relationship between mindset (growth vs. fixed), goal orientation, and academic resilience among upper secondary school students in Isfahan, Iran. In light of rapid social changes, increasing academic pressure, and the growing responsibility of formal educational systems, identifying psychological factors that contribute to students’ academic success has become increasingly important. Mindset, defined as individuals’ beliefs about the malleability of their abilities, plays a critical role in how students respond to academic challenges. A growth mindset has been consistently associated with persistence, effort, learning from failure, and adaptive coping, which may foster higher levels of academic resilience. In addition, goal orientation, as a key motivational construct, shapes students’ engagement with learning tasks and their responses to academic difficulties.

This study is applied in purpose and employs a descriptive–correlational research design. The statistical population consists of all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in upper secondary schools in Isfahan during the 2026–2027 academic year. A sample of 400 students will be selected using multistage cluster sampling. Data will be collected using the Multidimensional Mindset Scale (MUMIS), the Academic Resilience Inventory (ARI), and the Revised Achievement Goal Questionnaire (AGQ-R). Pearson correlation coefficients and path analysis will be used to analyze the data.

It is expected that the findings will provide empirical evidence for the predictive role of mindset and goal orientation in academic resilience. The results may contribute to a deeper understanding of motivational and cognitive processes underlying academic adjustment and offer practical implications for designing educational and psychological interventions aimed at enhancing students’ resilience and academic well-being.
