In recent years, football has consistently been regarded as one of the most important social phenomena in the world, and due to the large number of individuals interested in this attractive and exciting sport, it has received considerable attention in most countries (2). On the other hand, given that football requires a wide range of physical and technical abilities, one of the main challenges for coaches and sport science specialists is the use of efficient, safe, and sport-specific training methods in order to ultimately enhance athletes’ performance, particularly in adolescents.

Adolescence is considered one of the most important and sensitive developmental periods, which can significantly influence individuals’ performance and physiological responses to training. In fact, a wide range of changes—including growth spurts in height, increases in muscle mass, hormonal and strength adaptations, as well as changes in body composition and cognitive abilities—occur during adolescence. When combined with appropriate exercise training, these changes can provide a foundation for the success of adolescent athletes across various sports, and particularly in football (3).

However, the limited time available to adolescents due to academic commitments and other educational programs has led researchers in the fields of exercise science and sport physiology to seek strategies that require less time and space while still inducing beneficial adaptations in the performance of adolescent football players.
