Abstract
1. Problem Statement:
Political development in contemporary Iran has been profoundly influenced by legal and institutional structures. The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as the primary framework regulating political power, has played a fundamental role in shaping the trajectories of political development, while its institutional revisions have significantly affected institutional balance and political participation. This research examines the position of political development within the Constitution and the related institutional transformations.
2. Research Objectives:
The main objective of this study is to analyze the position of political development within the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran and to explain the impact of institutional revisions on the trajectory of political development from the perspective of historical institutionalism.
3. Research Method:
This study adopts a qualitative approach and employs a descriptive–analytical method. Its theoretical framework is based on historical institutionalism, and data are analyzed through the examination of legal, historical, and political documents using the logic of grounded theory.
4. Expected Findings:
The research is expected to demonstrate that the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran contains both institutional capacities and constraints regarding political development, and that institutional revisions have played a decisive role in stabilizing political trajectories and reproducing structures of power.
