Sign language interpreting in academic settings in Iran

Sign language is a language that the D/deaf and hard of hearing people can communicate with one another via this. If hearing people desire to communicate with the D/deaf people, they need to employ a sign language interpreter to interpret the deaf person's signs. A sign language interpreter can use a bidirectional mode for interpreting; i.e., from a sign language to a speaking language and vice versa. The role of sign language interpreters will be prominent when we are considering sign language interpreting as a job in academic settings since the D/deaf an hard of hearing people are there to gain knowledge and to communicate with the hearing and deaf people. Therefore, it deems necessary to see if sign language interpreting which is practiced in academic settings is understandable for the D/deaf students or not. In this study, we will focus on the current issues.
