This study explores women’s perceptions and experiences of watching Iranian environmental documentaries on the “Hashour” platform. Two theoretical frameworks are employed: ecofeminist theories, which highlight the connection between women’s conditions and the environment, and reception theory, which emphasizes the active role of audiences in interpreting films. The research method is qualitative, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews and women’s focus groups. The aim is to provide a description and analysis of women’s views and feelings toward these documentaries. As a case study, the documentary Mother Earth was selected to shed light on how women interpret a specific example. The findings reveal that women’s concerns stem from their lived experiences, and the issue of waste, as the central theme of the documentary, has significantly shaped their understanding of the environment, appearing prominently and diversely in their narratives.
