Aging is associated with a decline in muscle mass and function, a condition known as sarcopenia. This condition leads to weakness, disability, reduced quality of life, and even mortality.
* Contributing factors to sarcopenia include decreased levels of IGF-1, increased myostatin, and reduced physical activity.
* The prevalence of sarcopenia increases with age and imposes significant healthcare costs on society.
* Indicators such as muscle strength, muscle mass, inflammatory markers, and physical performance are essential for diagnosing and monitoring this condition.
* The present study aims to provide important scientific insights for exercise and nutritional interventions in the elderly.
The statistical population includes elderly men over the age of 65 living in Isfahan, Iran. Based on the study by Smith et al. (2010) and using G*Power software, the sample size was determined to be 22 participants with an effect size of 0.65 and a statistical power of 0.95.
Inclusion criteria are: no regular physical activity in the past 12 months, relatively healthy physical condition (ASMI > 7.0 kg/m²), absence of specific diseases, ability to perform TRX training, and no use of relevant drugs or supplements.
Exclusion criteria include: the onset of certain diseases, the use of interfering supplements or medications, failure to adhere to the exercise protocol or following a specific diet, alcohol consumption, or incomplete participation in the research process.
