Introduction: Adolescence is a critical period for psychological and social development, significantly influenced by the quality of the mother-adolescent relationship. The employment status of mothers (stay-at-home or working) shapes distinct patterns of interaction and emotional support, impacting adolescents’ lived experiences.

Objectives: This study aims to explore the lived experiences of adolescent girls aged 14–18 regarding their relationships with stay-at-home and working mothers, seeking to deepen understanding of its impact on their psychological and social development.

Methods: Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study uses Colaizzi’s seven-step method for data analysis. Data will be collected through semi-structured interviews using purposive and convenience sampling from psychologically healthy girls with either working or stay-at-home mothers .

Significance: By addressing a research gap in understanding adolescents’ subjective experiences, this study provides insights into their needs and challenges, informing intervention strategies to enhance family relationships and mental well-being, ultimately fostering family cohesion and social skills development .
