This research aims to investigate the effect of acute Rhodiola rosea (RR) supplementation on the performance of female martial artists with Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). In a double-blind, quasi-experimental study, participants will be divided into two groups: a supplement group (500 mg of RR daily) and a placebo group, receiving either the supplement or placebo for 10 days during the luteal phase. Aerobic performance (using the VO2max test), anaerobic performance (using the Wingate test), cognitive performance (by measuring reaction time), and serum levels of serotonin and GABA hormones will be assessed. Additionally, PMS symptoms will be evaluated using standard questionnaires (PPST) and a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for measuring pain and headache. This research seeks to provide effective strategies to improve athletic performance and reduce PMS symptoms in female martial artists. The results of this study can contribute to better management of PMS in female athletes, improving their quality of life and performance during menstruation. By filling existing research gaps, this study examines the role of natural supplements like RR in reducing PMS symptoms and enhancing the athletic performance of female martial artists.
