This research examines the cultural, social, and economic aspects of the lives of IT activists in Iran and studies the impact of technology on them. The present research emphasizes the necessity of comprehensive studies in the field of technology and innovation, particularly focusing on programmers and activists in this domain. The main objective is to understand the interaction between technology, society, and culture using theories such as actor-network theory.
Among the notable points is the increasing importance of programming and its role in shaping our society today, especially the community of programmers in relation to technology. In this study, the growing trend of programming as one of the reasons for the necessity of attention to this field, the challenges that programmers face (such as migration and job barriers), and the choice of this field as an acceptable alternative for the general public who may not succeed in their educational or professional paths will be examined.
It is important to consider how social, cultural, gender, and political conditions affect technology and vice versa. The aim of this study is also to examine the unique subculture of programming communities, which simultaneously possesses characteristics of both youth and geek subcultures. Furthermore, the study examines the challenges, lifestyles, and shared experiences of programmers and emphasizes the importance of understanding these details within the group.
Overall, the present study emphasizes the necessity of clarifying these aspects to generate meaningful insights at the intersection of culture and technology. This effort seeks to answer fundamental research questions and create a deeper understanding of the socio-technical context.
