This study aims to investigate the psychometric properties of the short form of the Inventory of Father Involvement (IFI-SF) in the Iranian population. Given the recent shifts in parenting roles in Iran, there is a need for appropriate psychometric tools to assess father involvement. The IFI-SF, with its emphasis on emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of involvement, is a suitable instrument for measuring this involvement.

This is a descriptive-correlational study that will be conducted using a convenience sampling method. The sample size, based on the Bentler-Chou rule, will be between 130 and 390 participants. The research instruments include the Inventory of Father Involvement - Short Form (IFI-SF) and the Parenting Dimensions and Behaviors Questionnaire (PBDQ).

Various statistical methods will be used for data analysis, including Cronbach's alpha, McDonald's omega coefficient, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, convergent and discriminant validity, and criterion validity.

By adapting the father involvement measurement tool to the Iranian context, this study contributes to a better understanding of father involvement patterns in child-rearing and the factors influencing it in contemporary Iranian society. The stakeholders of this research include families, children and adolescents, educational and counseling centers, and social policymakers.

Limitations of this study include sample limitations, instrument limitations, and cultural considerations
