Research Problem:

With the increase in life expectancy and the aging population in Iran, the elderly, as one of the vulnerable groups, face numerous challenges. The decline in intergenerational cohesion, reduced social participation of the elderly, and the rise in diseases and cognitive disorders necessitate targeted social policies to support this group. Considering the socio-economic transformations, changes in family structures, and reduced family support, it is essential to formulate and implement new social policies to ensure the social health and welfare of the elderly.



Objectives:

The primary objective of this research is to examine the existing policies related to the social health of the elderly from the 1980s to the present. The research aims to analyze the weaknesses, policy gaps, and provide solutions to improve the social situation of the elderly.



Research Methodology:

Using the policy analysis method, documents, laws, and government programs related to the social health of the elderly will be reviewed. Content analysis of these documents will be conducted to identify weaknesses and provide policy recommendations.



Significance of the Research:

This research, by identifying the flawed cycles of past policymaking, will contribute to offering solutions to improve the social condition of the elderly. Additionally, this study will emphasize the need to enhance social support policies, improve the quality of life for the elderly, and strengthen social programs to prevent their vulnerability.
