This research intends to use EEG techniques and eye tracking to determine the effect of directionality on translators' cognitive load during the translation of specialized terms and also during the four universal reading types of translation proposed by Hvelplund(2018). In this way,, in addition to the cognitive load imposed on the translators, possible reading patterns of specialized terms will also be obtained. For this purpose, five female or male translators will be selected, all of whom will be translation doctoral students. The selection of these participants from among the doctoral students is to homogenize them regarding gender and level of professionalism. Then the participants will translate two specialized texts of about 150 words, once from Persian to English and again from English to Persian. In this way, translators' eye-movement,, the screen, and also their brain activity will be recorded. After the completion of the translation, the data will be analuzed by the researcher and the results will be evaluated.
