The Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Training on Cognitive Control, Self-Compassion, and Emotion Regulation among Adolescent Volleyball Players.
This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on cognitive control, self-compassion, and emotion regulation among adolescent volleyball players. Adolescent athletes in competitive sports, particularly in team sports such as volleyball, face numerous psychological challenges, including performance anxiety, social evaluation, competitive stress, and setbacks.
Therefore, possessing efficient psychological skills is essential for maintaining optimal performance and emotional adaptability. Cognitive control, self-compassion, and emotion regulation are foundational constructs in explaining the quality of an athlete’s psychological performance.
As an evidence-based approach, CBT—by restructuring maladaptive thoughts, enhancing cognitive self-awareness, and training adaptive emotion regulation strategies—has the potential to improve these components. Accordingly, this research, within an experimental framework, evaluates the efficacy of CBT on the aforementioned variables among adolescent volleyball players.
It is expected that the findings will provide empirical evidence for the implementation of cognitive-behavioral interventions in sport psychology and contribute to enhancing the psychological readiness and athletic performance of adolescent athletes.
